Review - Embraced by Darlene Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What were the main themes of the book? How well did the author execute these themes? The central theme of this book is romance. Abby seems torn between two men and readers find themselves picking sides as well. The author did a good job in executing this time although her sci-fi elements could have been better.

Describe 2 different settings or locations. One - When Abby watches the DVD of 'Close Encounters'. I think this is an excellent depiction of how broken she feels herself to be.

Two - At the reunion. Especially this quote, "The threads that bind us together …; would there be more peace in the universe, less strife, if everyone knew the extent of our similarities?"

Were you able to connect with the main character and why? It was easy to connect with Abby. Many of her characteristics can be seen in any romantic comedy or female friend. I would have liked to connect more with Yves.

Which did you find more appealing, the introduction or the conclusion? Overall, it took me awhile to get into this book. The writing was good and the characters were interesting but somehow there were bits that dragged more than necessary and were not as fast-paced as I would have liked.

Why would you recommend or not recommend this book? Yes, I would recommend this book.

Disclosure - I received a free book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
